The neighborhood celebrated the upcoming holiday season with luminaries and carriage rides on December 3.  A big THANK YOU! to everybody who helped assemble, put out, lit and/or cleaned up the luminaries. Happy holidays!

The annual luminaries and carriage rides will be Saturday, December 3!  This event will coincide with the City’s lighting of the Holiday Tree Event at the Thomas Center, which includes carolling and a visit by Santa. We still need people to set up the luminaries along the NE Boulevard at 11am, and to light them at 5pm. We also need volunteers to help with carriage tickets and loading at the Thomas Center (various time slots throughout the evening). To volunteer, please contact Mary Rhodes (crawley20@hotmail.com).

The next DNA general membership meeting will be Thursday, November 10, at the First United Methodist Church, at 7pm. Agenda: Water quality in the Duckpond neighborhood; crime report; holiday activities; approval of the August General Meeting minutes. There are DOOR PRIZES (courtesy of the Hippodrome Theater), so please come all!

The 2011 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser ended this past Saturday with a 3-mile walk through the Duckpond and the SE historic district. Our Duckpond Neighborhood team raised over $1,240. In total, Gainesville teams collected over $98,000! To those of you who donated: Thank you so much for your contribution! Your money will help advance cancer research, and improve care for women and men affected by breast cancer. If you have not donated, but would like to: you can still do so by clicking on the duck to the right (–>). Together we are making huge strides! Thank you!
