Last year’s picnic was a great success.   About 50 neighbors, young and old attended.  The variety of side dishes was astonishing.  Your DNA board thought that it was so successful that we decided to try for a repeat.  And who doesn’t love a good picnic?  So to celebrate our wonderful neighborhood, we’ll be having a Duckpond neighborhood picnic on Sunday, May 20 at Roper Park.  By May 20th, we hope that you will be able to see some lovely, new landscaping in the circle.  The picnic will start at 4pm, and we will have some food ready by 5pm.  The Duckpond Neighborhood Association will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, condiments and soft drinks.  Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors, we will also have a grill set up for everybody to use and maybe even a chef to cook for us.   Admission is free, but bring a dish to share, such as potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, chips, or dessert.   You may also want to bring chairs, blankets, and toys or games for kids to increase the fun (no pets, please!).   Our treasurer will be present, so if you have not paid your dues for this year, you can pay at the picnic. All  Duckpond residents are welcome!  If you wish to help in organizing this event, please contact Mary (crawley20@hotmail.com).   Hope to see you all on Sunday May 20th!

Our next DNA general membership meeting is Thursday May 10, 2012,  7pm, in the Bethany Room at the First United Methodist Church (419 NE 1st St). Famous local horticulturist Wendy Wilbur will give a presentation, so please come all with all your gardening questions!  You can access an electronic version of the  April issue of DNA news here.

On April 10 and 11 the Roper Park circle was transformed into a nicely landscaped area. Thanks to Mike Volk, the City of Gainesville, Jan Scott and other members of the Roper Park Circle Committee to make this all happen!

The next DNA general membership meeting is Thursday, February 16 at 7 pm at the First United Methodist Church (Bethany Room). On the agenda: a presentation by Historic Shed; planting plan for the Roper Park Circle (click on the picture below for an enlarged image); approval of the proposed by-laws ; and election of the board of directors. Come all! We have door prizes provided by the Hippodrome Theater!
