Gunshots, drive-by shootings, bullets in alleyways. The neighborhood of Shaw, in the District's Ward 2, is experiencing blatant acts of violence, and it will take more than policing to stop it.

Neighbors: At the April 2007 BACA meeting Mayor Adrian Fenty made a commitment to help us to eradicate the open-air drug markets in our community and his Ward Five Constituent Services Coordinator Alice Thompson has been diligently working to assist us in this regard.

Shaw Anti-Crime March and Rally Today
There will be an In Pursuit of Freedom March and Rally to stop crime and killings in the Shaw area and surrounding communities on Saturday, March 31st from 12:00 p.m. until -4:30 p.m. Many invited officials will be there, so please come out.

Shaw Anti-Crime Task Force TONIGHT Wed. Feb 21
This is a reminder that Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans will convene the Shaw Anti-Crime Task Force on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at United House of Prayer for All People, 601 M Street, NW. The meeting is open to all.
Mayor Adrian Fenty, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier, and representatives of numerous District government agencies will be present to discuss measures being taken to combat the recent increase in crime in Shaw, and to answer questions about delivery of DC government services in the neighborhood.
