Registration for the Department of Employment Services' 2005
Passport-to-Work Summer Youth Employment Program ends on Saturday, April 30, 2005. Youth interested in registering for a summer job can download an application online from the DOES website (http://www.does.dc.gov/does/cwp/view,a,1232,q,625215.asp) or get a copy in person from the DOES Office of Youth Programs at 625 H Street, NE. The office is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM and until 6:00 PM on
Wednesdays.
This year's summer program will operate from July 5, 2005 through August 12, 2005, and is expected to serve 10,000 youth, ages 14 to 21, in subsidized employment and job readiness training. Youth will be referred to jobs within
the District government and non-profit organizations, where they will earn the federal minimum wage of $5.15 per hour, working 20 to 30 hours per week (based on their age). Youth who compete for positions in the private and federal sectors can earn up to $12 an hour.
This year, registration requires having youth complete and drop-off their applications, a Certification and Consent Form with documentation to verify their date of birth, citizenship or alien status, social security number, and proof of District residency.
For more information or to make an appointment at one of the career centers, call 202-724-7000, weekdays between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, or call the Office of Youth Programs at 202-698-3991.
Please share this information with young people on your block.
Best,
