Kennedy Playground
Sewing for Beginners classes for teens and adults are being offered at the Kennedy Recreation Center, beginning June 7, 2004.
Learn basic sewing skills or just sew for the fun of it! If you've never sewn before or haven't sewn in years, these classes are for you. You'll be introduced to the sewing machine, learn sewing terms, hand and machine sewing procedures, and pressing techniques. Learn how to take key body measurements, how to read and buy a pattern, how to make pattern alterations for a custom fit, how to select appropriate fabrics, how to layout, mark and cut, and how to select and apply interfacings for a great finish.
One sewing project completes each class. Finish the class with confidence to make more fashionable projects. Sewing machines and notions provided. Class sizes are limited.
These eight session classes meet as follows:
Basic Sewing I—Mondays, June 7-August 2, 2004 (except July 5th), 7:00 PM to 9:00
